The Qatar National Security Shield (NSS) and Defense Services Marketing Council (DSMC) joined together to launch the inaugural Qatar Maritime Security - Coastal & Border Surveillance Conference (QMARSEC) which will take place on October 7 - 8, 2013 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha, Qatar under the theme: Achieving Maritime and Coastal Security through a Joint Concept of Operation. 
 
The QMARSEC 2013 conference seeks to provide a fully integrated exhibition and platform for military leaders, officers, operations commanders and industry stakeholders to discuss and learn the latest strategies in maritime security operations through joint endeavors in order to deepen and enhance inter-agency cooperation and collaboration by utilizing the latest surveillance security technology.  
 
In the face of increasingly sophisticated transnational maritime threats both the NSS and DSMC acknowledge that maintaining a technological advantage through the most advanced, high tech systems, equipment and electronic devices is vital to an effective coordinated maritime and coastal surveillance. The provision of security, stability and protection for the members of any society and its establishments comes most critically on the frontline of coastal and border protection.” 
 
As the National Security Shield engages in the constant monitoring of Qatar’s borders, coasts and regional waters around the clock, the QMARSEC conference will supply interested parties with answers to questions concerning the challenges and obstacles to an effective coordinated maritime and coastal surveillance while providing the opportunity to learn from global partners in discovering strategies to identify vulnerabilities and recommendations for safeguards or countermeasures. 
 
The QMARSEC event will create invaluable opportunities for maritime security and defense representatives across the globe. This is a first in a series of fully integrated exhibitions and conferences that will be held in Doha, Qatar.
